November 13, 2009
Dear Parents, Alumni and Friends of PCA, To download the following in pdf, click here: "PCA A Legacy of Learning Newsletter Nov1309 pdf" A short while ago you received a letter from us explaining that our school leadership has decided to begin a Capital Resourcing Campaign to raise funds for our relocation. Thank you for making Peoples Christian Academy a greater part of your individual and family prayers. Thank you for continuing to pray for divine guidance and blessing upon every aspect of our school. We are convinced that you have great respect for the quality of our academic program and for the value of the ministry that has taken place here on a day-to-day basis since our beginnings in 1971. There are so many stories which reflect the great degree of dedication that exists within our community. Let us share one of those stories with you. In the fall of 2007, when PCA families received notice about the possible closing of the school, one of our families quietly went through their savings and decided to take action. This family did not have lots of bank statements or account books. As a matter of fact, their savings were coins and bank notes tied together with a rubber band. The teacher who received the money knew the family, and knew for a fact that the family continued to try to make ends meet and to keep their child(ren) at school. The money was given in a purple velvet bag. When the roll of bank notes and coins were counted, the people involved in the counting could not hold back their tears. A total of $6,000 was donated to PCA through the generous and loving sacrifice from this family. To this day, we in leadership still don't know who the family is because they wish to remain anonymous. This very touching story reminds us that each one of us can do our part at this important time when our school is in need of our tangible participation in providing the resources for relocation. We are now asking that in your personal and family prayer time you begin to seek the Lord about what you can do to financially support this great ministry—a ministry that so deeply impacts the lives of our young people. Public Hearing We’re hoping that you may also be able to attend this coming Tuesday evening, November 17, a public meeting to be held by the Development Services Committee of the Town of Markham to consider our zoning amendment application It will take place at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers, Anthony Roman Centre, 101 Town Centre Boulevard in Markham (near Hwy 7 and Warden Avenue) click here for google map location. It is important for you to come out and show support for our school so that the Councillors will know how many stakeholders are affected by this application. Prayer Vigil On Friday, November 20th, as a body of believers, we will be binding together, seeking God's touch as individuals, families and as a school family, as part of “the” church. From 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. PCA students, teachers, alumni, parents and friends will get together and have a time praying together. We will be praying for the school's needs and each other's needs. Prayer requests are being collected and you are welcome to bring yours to the prayer vigil. A different prayer session will start on the hour each hour throughout the day. You are more than welcome to join one session or pray with us for the whole time. The location is PCA Portable #1 (along Wilfred Avenue, next to the JK/SK playground). Thank you for your faithful and prayerful support, Reg Andrews, PCA Director of Operations and Ministry Carol Lam, Secretary, PCA Board of Directors |
