Admissions - International Students*

**************************************************************

IMPORTANT NOTE:
ALL documentation requested must be received with the application before the review for acceptance process can begin.

**************************************************************

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS*

International students applying from outside Canada must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete Student Entrance Test and Interview between parents and/or guardian and principal.

  • If, at the end of the interview, the principal accepts the student, a bank draft for the full international tuition fee must be submitted before the school office can issue a letter for the student to use in obtaining his/her student visa.

  • In addition, and at the same time, by separate cheque, medical insurance must be purchased through Capital Builder Financial Corporation’s plan.

Notify school office of any address change:
  • International students SHOULD NOT change their residence during the school year; however, if unforeseen circumstances necessitate a student to change residence while attending PCA, they MUST notify the school office immediately so as to avoid a breach of agreement which may result in expulsion from school and the notifying of immigration authorities.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT POLICY*

Each year we have limited spaces for international students with student Visas (Grades 7-12 only).
  1. Preference is given to students from Christian families.

  2. Students must live with a Christian, English-speaking family in Toronto. They may not live on their own or with other students.

  3. Each student is assessed on previous academic record, a family commitment to support the educational philosophy of PCA, an entrance examination and a personal interview.

  4. Students and their parents must complete and sign the enclosed Application for Admission form and complete the Visa/Residential Information Form for International Students. They must be submitted with a copy of the student’s birth certificate or passport and a copy of the student’s academic history. Application Fee: $150/student (non-refundable)

Except for unusual circumstances, the student must write the entrance exam and have an interview at Peoples Christian Academy (PCA) in Toronto. To schedule these, call the school office. A one-time, non-refundable Testing fee of $235.00* (Cdn) is required at the time of testing.

  5. When a student is accepted he/she will receive a letter of conditional admission after the tuition fees and health insurance are paid. Tuition is $17,230 (2014-2015)*, which includes the non-refundable tuition deposit of $400.00*, per academic year (September to June). Payment is to be made by bank draft/certified cheque.

Tuition fees are non-refundable unless the student is refused a student visa by Canadian Immigration, at which point, a partial refund will be issued - the non-refundable tuition fee of $400.00* is withheld for administration fees.

Being a Christian school that is also a registered Canadian charitable
organization, an official donation receipt will be issued for the
portion of tuition fees paid by a family in excess of the secular
training cost (calculated as cost per student x number of children
enrolled with PCA). For further details please contact PCA’s Finance Office.

  6. Additional cost at time of registration is Student Health Insurance Plan of approximately $505*/year.

  7. To be admitted, students must obtain a Canadian student visa after they are accepted by the school and before the first day of school.

CANADIAN IMMIGRATION AND YOUR VISA*
  1. If you are not a Canadian or permanent resident, you must have a Canadian student visa in order to study in Canada.

  2. If you have a student visa to attend one Canadian school, you cannot legally attend another. You must get a new student visa for the new school.

  3. To receive a Canadian student visa you must have a letter of acceptance from a school.

  4. PCA will issue the letter after the full tuition fees and health insurance are paid. You take this letter to the Canadian immigration office in your country of origin to be issued a student visa.

  5. If you are studying at another Canadian school you may go to a Canadian immigration office for the new visa.

  6. Visa renewal: After you are a student, always be sure to pay school fees, receive a letter of acceptance for the next year and report to immigration for a visa renewal for the next academic year. Do this before your visa expires.

  7. If your visa expires, it is difficult, if not impossible to have it renewed and you may be asked to return to your home country.

  8. Please check with Canadian immigration to confirm that there have been no changes in government policy. The above information is valid at the time of this publication.

  9. If the student fails to report to the school for the academic year, Canadian authorities will be notified.
